Thanks Loydy, Gadget, and Cad et al,
all waters thoroughly mudded. It might be worth looking at the Tithe Map around Linley Brook. Has anyone access to it? otherwise 1st one inch OS map?
"Mort", "Nort" and ending "on" or possibly "er"; and probably an illiterate census enumerator and a broad Shropshire accent. Her Marylebone born great grandaughter, who was born 3 years after Jane died, used to say "All round the Wrekin."
