For some time I have been undertaking the research into my family tree.
My Great grandfather, Thomas Lewis (1861-1924) born in Llanerfyl & left his family & the area in the early 1880's. The eldest son of my 2nd G'Grandfather *Oliver Lewis(1836-1913) & Martha (ne' Davies)(1835-1903), Thomas was one of nine children, the others being Rachel(b.1858), Elizabeth(b.1862), Ann(b.1866), Margaret(b.1868), Jane(b.1870), Evan(1872-1944), Mary(b.1875) & David(1877-1948). The family home was first 'Dolyronen' & later 'Tros Y Nant', at Diosg, Llanerfyl.
*Oliver Lewis was the son of **David Lewis(1800-1875) & Sarah (ne' Watkin)(1801-1883). Living at 'Dwnantfach, Llanerfyl', the couple's other children were Mary(b.1825), David(b.1827), Thomas(b.1830), Ann(b.1832), John(b.1834), Evan(b.1839), Elizabeth(b.1841) & Rachel(b.1848).
**David Lewis was the son of *Thomas Lewis(b.1749) & Anne (ne' Davies)(1754-1839) who married in Llanerfyl in 1777. The couples other children were Anne(b.1777), Thomas(b.1779), Elizabeth(b.1782), Jane(b.1785), Oliver(b.1787), Margaret(b.1791) & John(b.1793).
*Thomas Lewis was the son of **Edward Lewis(b.1722) & Elinor (ne' Llowarch) who married in Llanerfyl in 1746. Another found child was John(b.1747).
**Edward Lewis was the son of David Lewis(b.c.1690-1740) & Catherine (b.c.1690-?) The Couples other found children are Maria/Mary(b.1725), Evan(b.1727) & Catherine(b.1729).
This research has revealed this particular Lewis 'vein' have lived in the Llanerfyl area since as far back as the 1720's, with David Lewis & his wife Catherine being the furthest back I've reached.
I have discovered that two Lewis males moved to the Shrawardine area of Shropshire in the mid 1800's. I would very much like to hear from anyone who may have a possible connection or additional information in respect of the Lewis family.
