John S did a lot of things
« on: Sunday 06 July 08 07:02 BST (UK) »
What a pity I can't read them ! ???
John S Ingleton, Tailor? Collector of Taxes and  Assistant ?. Could someone please help identify what he claims as his occupation?
And I'm not sure where he lived either. Is it Sturry Street, Water Lane?

Sturry, Blean 1891 RG 12/709 Page 8
Many thanks
Sandra

Thanks for that Suz. What a busy chap! I have never seen anyone with a list that long in any census of the family members. I know he became a Parish Councillor a bit later on. Must find his obituary sometime.

I bet his obit is interesting. From my 2xgt grandfathers obit I discovered he was a local poet - and then found some of his poetry in the old local newspaper (searchable at our local library)

As your ancestor is described as a newspaper correspondent (among other things!) it may be interesting to look through old local newspapers to find articles he has written

Happy hunting
