Morning to you,

I will need to search for the date of Margaret's arrival. All my records are in Scotland awaiting shippment back to Australia.

John didn't lie about the address, I'd say it exists, it's just that it was spelt and written in a way that isn't recognisable. We have a lot of small country towns with very odd names, some being Aboriginal.

As John became a stockman - moving cattle whilst on horseback - I have an idea of the generl area, but have been unsuccessful finding the name of the place on a map.

There is only one Margaret Jamison married in NSW in the 1860. I have a vague memory of getting her cert, and that she was Irish. Could be wrong about that, though. There is also only one Simon Jamison.

Is Simon  a Scottish name?
Atkinson; Badier; Cameron; Grant; Howie; Jardine; Jenkins; Kerr; Lawardorn; Lee; Linton; Lonie; McConnell; Morgan; Morrison; Murphy; O'Leary; Paton; Pratt; Robb; Williams

Oooops, the child was Samuel!  :o

But you said it was Samuel earlier  :-\

Are you thinking of Ross in Ireland rather than Scotland?

Simon isn't really a Scottish name and Samuel/Sorley is far more common.

Here are the passenger details. I sure got it all messed up.

JAMESON Margaret  24 or JAMIESON, M Stamboul 1854
JAMESON Samuel       5 or JAMIESON, S Stamboul 1854
JAMESON William       1 and family         David McIver 1853

They should be on the 1851 but I don't see them together whatever surname. There is a Joshua S in Aberdeenshire with a mother Margaret but she is 44 with husband and quite a number of children.

No baptisms for either of them in the Northern counties that I can see.

That's a pity. I suppose they could have been living elsewhere.

Thanks for looking.  :D

Hi Jamjar
Don't know if you are still active but I am seeking information about the same John Morrison mentioned in your searce for Margaret Jamieson. You have some interesting facts about him. I cannot find any reference to his parents and wondered how you tracked him down.

Lovely surprise to hear from you so quickly. Yes I am in Australia. My line goes from John Morrison  to Thomas Morrison B 1866 then to Merle Pocock (nee Morrison B 1905) to my mother Dell Horne (nee Pocock B 1931) and then to me born 1951 so I guess we are both direct descendants! Unfortunately there is no evidence in Australia I have found to date that supports who John Morrison's parents actually were and several trees have conflicting information so I read with interest your search for his aunt which seemed to be a good link in determining his true identity. How did you go with your search for Margaret Jamieson? I am willing to share any information I have.
