Have you tried the Cosford database ? Go to www.cosford-database.co.uk and click on Lavenham in the village section. I managed to go back 2 generations of my Lavenham ancestors from the site.

My own Lavenham ancestors are mainly Rogers and Turner.
Hertfordshire - Stone, Wells, Quarry,Claxton
London - Sutton (Southwark/Clerkenwell), Phillips (Clerkenwell), Stone (Chelsea)
Suffolk - Turner & Rogers (Lavenham)
Norfolk - (K)Nobbs & Germany (Norwich)
Middlesex - Shackell
Anywhere - Quarry & variants

Hi

I have the following Snells from Lavenham (where I have not specified birthplace, it is Lavenham):

John Snell (1792 - 1849) X Elizabeth Risby (1787 - 1857)

Children of John and Elizabeth:

John Snell (1819 - 1846) X Louisa Lorkin* (c1822 Clare)

Children of Thomas and Louisa:

Charlotte (1850) - my ggg grandmother X William George Towell (1843, Shoreditch)

Thomas (1852)

William (1854)

William Thomas (1867 - 1873)

George (1870)

Sarah Ann (1873)

Ethel Snell (c. 1882 North Woolwich, Kent)

By the 1881 Census, most of the extended family were in the vicinity of North Woolwich.

If you think you are connected with any of the above, let me know and I'll add the rest.  I also have some family for Margaret Church, Elizabeth Risby, Ann Elliston, William Towell and Harriet Beadle.

I have found the Cosford database to be invaluable.

Can I just remind everyone that Ray Long who compiled the Cosford-Database passed away last month.

He was my web-partner at Suffolk Surnames.

The family have left the website on line at the moment whilst they decide what will happen to the Cosford-Database.

Please - no queries or questions on Ray's email address, but I will try to deal with any if I can - I live a couple of miles from Lavenham and have 37 years experience of research in the county.
I will be driving to Lavenham shortly to do some shopping  ;D

Pat ...
Every time I find an ancestor,
I have to find two more!

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham - all link to  Framlingham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally Framlingham/Parham)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert & Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith LDN - Fulker
LDN/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

GGfather Michael Wilson born Cork, lived Fulham London - moved to Boston USA 1889, what happened next?

I am descended from the Day family, and the Lingleys are also from the same ancestors. I also have Snell ancestors from Lavenham. Would be happy to pass on relevant details to you.

Regards, Steve

I'd love to know more about my lavenham/Sudbury Snells. I seem to be stuck

I have John Martin Snell  was born in Sudbury, Suffolk in England in 1836. He worked as a labourer. He married Annie Lucas on 5th June 1862 at the Presbyterian Church in Warrnambool, Australia His parents were James Snell (who was a farmer/labourer) and Harriet Elizabeth Eley.

James Snell was born in 1822/3 in England (probably Sudbury). He was a labourer.  He died in Warrnambool in 1884. He married Harriet Elizabeth Eley. His father was also called James Snell

Other than this I have no details. I'd love more dates, ancestors and descendants if anyone can help, or details of the extended family living in Suffolk.
Also any details of when they emigrated/ships,etc as I've drawn a complete blank
