Minard House Co Longford
« on: Monday 14 July 08 02:32 BST (UK) »
Does anyone know much about the history of what I know is now the local radio station? I have a newspaper article stating that Alexander W Percival (my family) (no Date) of Minard House Co. Longford married Miss Ella Moffatt of Drundrum House Ready(which I think should read  Keady). I need to know more about his connection with the house.

Hello Linny,

Minard House, near Newtownforbes, was built in the 1760s. www.iol.ie/~newtownf/clonguish.html

Irish Flax Growers, 1796
Roger Percival, Longford. Longford

There's a townland named Minard in the Parish of  Clongesh

There's no listing for Percival in the extracts of the 1854 Griffiths Valuation
nor is there a listing in the list of County Longford Landowners - 1870s.

Griffiths Valuation - Dublin 1848-51
Alexander Percival, Merrion Square, Lower St. Peters

Griffiths Valuation - Laois 1851-52
Alexr. Percival, Esq., Bawn, Curraclone

Griffiths Valuation - Leitrim 1856
Alexander Percival, Curraun, Mohill

Griffiths Valuation - Sligo 1858
Col. Alexander Percival, Cloonkeevy, Emlaghfad
Col. Alexander Percival, Kilbrattan, Emlaghfad
Col. Alexander Percival, Lecarrow, Cloonoghil
Col. Alexander Percival, Islands, Island in Templehouse Lake, Cloonoghil

There's a Church of Ireland and Cemetery at Newtownforbes http://tinyurl.com/6h4pdp

The Church of Ireland was built by the Forbes family in the late seventeenth century and the Catholic Church was built by the Forbes family in the 1850s. www.longford.ie/longford_towns.aspx?id=840

I've linked your "Same family of Percivals in Longford and Leitrim" to this thread http://tinyurl.com/6gt3zz

Hi, i know its probable a bit late to be replying to your post, but I'm interested in finding out some history of minard house, it has been owned by my family now for years. I'm curious as to when it was built and what family's lived there, did you find any info on when your family lived there
