During my last 5 years of research I have obtained copies of 40 Cheshire Wills and Admons from Cheshire Records Office.  In keeping with the spirit of Rootschat I am prepared to share details of the contents of these documents. To comply with copyright I regret that I am unable to reproduce and send out copies (you must purchase your own from CRO), however, I can let you know any other names or places that appear in the documents and from those details you can decide if you have a possible match before ordering.  In some cases, if the will was 'one of mine' I have fully transcribed the contents.  Where available I can provide the transcription.  Here is what I have:-

Hi - I've just found this website in a desperate trawl for information about Ann Faulkner born in Lymm about 1831.  I have her marriage certificate to John Starkey (1853) which states that her father is Joseph Faulkner, Innkeeper, deceased.  I've been through the 1841 census and there's no trace of him so he may well be the one mentioned here!  There are many young Ann Faulkners in the Cheshire area living with other families  and so if this will pin her down (and give me her mother's name) - that would be awesome.

That's terrific, Nick.  I'm so grateful to you.  I'd come up against a solid wall and couldn't find a way round it.  There are lots of trees out there that are full of misinformation and I couldn't find one that was verifiable.  I owe you!

Hi Nick - Any time you go through any wills I'd be interested in any mentions of any of the 'Allman' family. (And similar spellings)
Tony

I've just discovered, via the Marriage record of my ggg grandfather John Lamb, that his father is Randle Lamb.
This was John's second marriage, taking place in Manchester during 1843 and Randle's occupation is recorded as 'Smith'.
As all the Randle Lambs I've found so far, seem to come from Cheshire, I'm wondering if my Randle is connected to those discussed in these posts.
John has been reported as being born in 1791 and 1801 and he was a boilermaker.
I'd appreciate any information.

Hello.
I have just joined Rootschat and came across this subject whilst researching my Hollingworth ancestors. My Great-great-grandfather, James Hollinworth was a blacksmith in Hale Barns. I have a copy of his will dated 4th September 1832, in which he names his wife Martha (nee Renshaw) and his sons James, William, Thomas and John. I see from your list that you have a James Hollinworth of Hale Barns, a blacksmith, who died in 1825 whereas my James Hollinworth died in 1834. Is there any possibility that we are talking about the same man? If so, and your will ties up with the detail in my will, could you possibly let me have a copy of your transcription as I am finding it very difficult to read the handwriting. Many thanks.
