Hi Rockinrobin,

Have you tried variations of the name (most probably you have...but)
I vaguely remember from my childhood days that my mother knew a Mrs (possibly ) Calcutt in langley Mill  but we always referred to her as mrs Colcutt and would have spelled it with an "O" I think there was some connection with a cousins family -the Baileys -but not too sure on that -will have to try and get the old grey cells working!!!!

There is a marriage reg in the 1920s reg in Basford district (which as you probably know langley Mill would come under) for a Charles Colcutt-maybe a connection?

we shouldn't post our e addresses on here - (spam etc) - there is a private message facility we can exchange e addresses or more private details

It would be a good idea to remove your address

Hi, I am new to rootschat and family history research but this post caught my attention as I am a Calcutt and my father was the son of William born in Langley Mill. I would love to hear where you have got to in the intervening years and happy to share what I know. My parents emigrated in 1963 and I now live in Australia.

Welcome to Rootschat Ozkath.
Rockinrobin hasnt been on Rootschat since 2013 but if still around or have the same email address will be notified of your reply on here.

Suzard may know more.

As you say you are new to Family Research I will try and get you started.

There is a fairly new GRO Birth/Death Reg Site that now has Mothers maiden names on the Births.
So this is William;
CALCUTT, WILLIAM, Mothers maiden name     PAGE****
GRO Reference: 1877  J Quarter in BASFORD  Volume 07B  Page 138

Marriage of William;
26 Jan 1907, St Laurance, Heanor, Derbyshire
William CALCUTT to Mable LINDSEY
Both of their Fathers are CHARLES

1881 Census
Heanor, Derbyshire
Charles Calcutt, 25. Head, Mar, (Corn) Millers Labourer, born Barfaird, Oxfordshire
Jane Calcutt, 35, Wife, Mar, born Bambury, Oxfordshire
WILLIAM Calcutt, 4, Son, born Langley Mill, Derbyshire
Michael Calcutt, 46, Uncle, Widower, Labourer, born Barfaird, Oxfordshire
(should be Barford)

Strange as Charles/Jane didnt marry until 1896 in Nottinghamshire age 37/43. Charles doesnt name a Father but Janes is THOMAS Page, Occp Labourer.

1871 he is with his Grandfather in Banbury, Ocfordshire;
John Callicutt, 73, Head, Widr, Ag Lab
George Callicutt, 30, Son, Unm, Ag Lab
CHARLES Callicutt, 12, Grandson, Scholar
