No - its Garstang Lancashire- a beautiful area of Lancashire.

http://www.garstang.net/

We go to a place there for a Christmas lunch with an organisation and it is so pretty when the Christmas lights and tree are lit!

I do think they will be related - but couldn't see any old enough in 1851  - and the 1841 would need a more 'in depth' search - spellings!!  ::) ::) ::)
Will try to have a look later.
best wishes

Chris
IGI shows other children for James and Mary: John, Jane and Margaret in addition to those already on census.

James is shown as 55 in 1841- which means that if his ages is rounded down he would be between 55-60 yrs old -therefore born between 1780 and 1790 ish. He could possibly be the 1791 christening - being married at about 19 yrs.
There is also a James born 1781- father William, mother Elizabeth. Lots of them on IGI for you to peruse  :D

On that basis his father would be  born 1771 or before. There are none that I can see. There are lots of variations of the name in Kendal in 1841- I suppose they could be brothers of James/cousins/uncles etc. ???
At the moment I think that we have gone as far as possible until something new turns up.

Heywood,
I believe James married Agnes Benson 1778 Hawkshead.
There is also a male child named Mackreath Benson b 1798 Hawkshead!!

Therefore, you have helped me gain 2 further generations and the siblings that go we them.
There are Mackreaths and Bensons going back to early 1700s in Hawkshead, so plenty more digging to do.  :D

Regards
Chris
