Fitzsimmons of Halton County.
« on: Saturday 02 August 08 01:15 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

I have a Robert Fitzsimmons who emigrated to Canada. He married Alice Brown in 1891 in Nelson . I do have the marraige details and also the census details for 1901. I would dearly love more info on this family. Ultimately leading to discovering a few of their descendants. They lived in Halton County, Trafalgar Township in Oakville. I believe that they are buried in St Judes cemetary in Oakville.

ANY INFO ON THIS FAMILY OR THEIR CONNECTIONS WELCOMED.

Regards,
Aljepeka

Hi - It would help if you gave the province name where you found them in 1901.  Have you checked the 1911 Canada census at automatedgenealogy.com?

If you go to www.automatedgenealogy.com and look at the 1911 census, you will see the other children they had.

William John signed up for WWI - at the time he was unmarried, next of kin is mother Mrs Robert Fitzsimmons of Oakville.
http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=1567952
 - and he is listed on the CWGC list.
his younger brother, 'Edmond Robert' that Karen found on the birth list, appears to have signed up as Edward.

http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch - shows what might be Robert's death in 1932 - in Oakville, and Alice's in 1925.

http://www.halinet.on.ca/sigs/ogshp/ - the local OGS might be able to help as well.

I recall an Ed fitzsimmons, whom,I believe was the town manager of Oakville for many years.I think there is even a bridge named in honour of him.
Went to school with a Bob Fitzsimmons in the 1950s.
I will check my High School books for any further info.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for the great response - really grateful.  I tried unsuccessfully to go on this site last night but it may have been down for a while as it was the only site I could not log in to or maybe my computer was ' wonky'.  Busy Sunday afternoon here so I will get back to you all tonight when I have more time and have checked the sites you suggested .
I appreciate all the help.
