Stoke Dry name
« on: Sunday 10 August 08 14:31 BST (UK) »
Hi there, I have a small problem with a maiden name.  My relative James Monk Houghton married Ann (?) in 1871.  She was born in Stoke Dry in 1836.  They were married in the Uppingham District, but registration doesn't show her maiden name.
Help please.

Welcome to RootsChat DipsyDi,

FreeBMD shows Ann Hinch on the same page as James Monk Houghton  :)

Hi Dipsy Di

welcome to Rootschat

Plus on the 1861 census, I think you will find they were working at the same place.
Working for a John Henry Palmer aged 85  a Baronet at East Carlton, Northants

Hi Ricky1,

I don't think I need that, but I'll bear in mind.  Strange thing is that this is on my father's side of family, but my maternal grandmother was in 'service' at the same place and lived in East Carlton after her marriage. I know the place well.  Small world eh?

Best Regards
