Tati,

I think that is the right information. The certificate details that I had for John Lamb that was born 1850 and was wrong gave parents as William and Harriett which I knew was wrong as this belonged to someone elses tree and had no connection with mine.

so if he was born late 1849 he might well be only 1 ont he 1851 census and not 2, the census asks for age at last birthday so listing him a 1 would make it look like he was born 1850

Yeah It seems right. I have just typed a message to Tati stating that the birth certificate that I had for John had parents as William and Harriett which I know is wrong as these details belong to someone elses tree that has no connection to mine. Trust me to have the most common surname going. :)

We aim to please  8)

Even with the new names - you'd think a Jemima would help! - I can't find the family in 1861 at all  :(

Not having any luck with 1841.

Also, I can't find Harriet's birth - there's only a Hannah Lamb registered in Newington at the right time  ???
James and Thomas seem to be disappear ...

Jemima marries an Isaac Pidgeon in 1881.

William sr and Mary are still around in 1891
RG12/759 47 5
Hastings All Saints, Sussex
125 All Saint Street

William Lamb, head, 75, Hawker, b. Surrey Walworth
Mary, wife, 72, b. do.
Edward, son, 31, Fisherman, b. do.

and Mary is widowed in 1901:
RG13/864 48 5
Hastings All Saints, Sussex
125 All Saints Street

Mary Lamb, head, wid, 81, Basket Maker (worker, at home), b. Surrey London Walworth
Edward, son, s, 41, Fisherman (own account), b. do.

Likely death for William:
William Lamb age 75
Mar 1892 Hastings 2b 19

I wonder if this is their marriage btw (hopefully children's birth certs will confirm Mary's maiden name)
Sep 1838 Newington 4 338
William Lamb to possibly Mary Ann Sarah Thomas

Morning Tati,

Your an early bird.

I think the best thing for me is to order a birth certificate for one of the children.

I know we moan when we cant find certain records but thank god for computers. Can you imagine us all travelling to different record offices all over the country only to find nothing, we would be tearing our hair out, ha ha, anyway thank you for what you have for now.
