Hi All,

Are these terms interchangeable?

Has anyone noticed a timing change of when they were used - I just thought Flesher was an older term?

I've not come across Flesher meaning butcher.  Where have you found it?  I know a fletcher made arrows.  Could it have been a corruption of that?
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Actually, looking it up in the Concise Oxford (always a good idea before wading in) I find that flesher is a Scottish term for butcher.
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.

Ellington in Harwich.

Cheers, I hadn't realised it could have deen a scottish term.  I have a gent Francis Hill who alternates the term over different census (in Annan Dumfriesshire) and baptisms.
