There is an Alexander Gellie b1869 in Peterhead on SP.
GROS ref 232/00 0041

Modified......
There is another born 1888 in St Nicholas, Aberdeens.  This is possibly a first son before family moved to Glasgow?

Have now found confirmation that Alex was born in 1869. Looked on the IGI and ? found parents for him as George and Mary (Shrackie) Now trying to find a marriage for them to find the fathers. Cass

A choice of two George Gellie and Mary marriages :

1857 and 1862 - Belhelvie (Mackie) and Alford (Taylor)

the Mackie one looks most likely - Shrackie - Mackie!

On SP again - there is a marriage George Gellie to Mary Mackie, not Shrackie.
This was in Belhelvie Aberdeens. in 1857.

There are not that many Gellie births on SP - a lot in St Nicholas.

Not as central as the map suggests.  It is a bit further East - The Royal etc is not Dennistoun.  Bellgrove Station is in Bellgrove - Dennistoun starts just to the East of that and is on both sides of Duke St.

Most of my family lived in Dennistoun.  Bluevale St from mid to late 19th century until the 1980's.  Not exactly a slum area but they never had a bath or shower in the flat!  Even in the 80's, the only place to have a wash was in the sink in a 5' x 5' scullery (kitchen).

Quite a few of the original buildings are still there but have been renovated.  A bit of the area has been totally redeveloped.
