Hello Gala Girl

Ladhope Vale is the road which runs behind Ladhope Church.  All Scottish Parish records are held by Scotlands People which you can view for a fee.  There is also a Border Family History Group in Galashiels and a centre run in Hawick (18 miles away).  I will hunt down contact websites for you and send you details. 

The house numbers in Croft Street, Galashiels have been changed over the years and you will probably find your ancestor's house and number no longer correspond.  Do let me know if there is anything else I can help with on Galashiels.
