Hi Ann,

My connection is through the MOORE family and I have the same information as yourself, i.e. Thomas MOORE born abt 1868 married Phoebe WOOD and their daughter Elizabeth, born 1893 married two FRADLEY brothers, Samuel and Joshua.

Thomas MOORE's parents were
William MOORE born abt 1838 Tipton and Hannah FEREDAY born abt. 1842 Oldbury.  They had the following children
1. Hannah born abt. 1864 Tipton.
2. Thomas (as above) born abt, 1868 Tipton.
3. Joseph born abt. 1871 Wolverhampton
4. John born abt. 1873 Tipton.
5. James born abt. 1877 Wolverhampton.
6. Henry born abt. 1881 Wolverhampton
7. George born abt. 1883 Wolverhampton

Parents of William, born abt 1838, were Isaac MOORE born abt. 1812 Wolverhampton and Rebecca NICHOLLS also born abt. 1812 Wolverhampton.

Like yourself it's still work in progress, but we do seem to have the same family connections by marriage.

Jackie

I saw a post from Ann Cooper re Solomon Fradley born abt 1797. I wondered if Ann could very kindly give me any other information about him and his family as Solomon is my great great great grandfather. All I know of him is that in later years on the 1851 and 1861 census he was an Inn Keeper of the Bell and Bear pub in Snow Hill,Shelton,Stoke-on-Trent. Solomon had a son, Solomon, who had a son, Wilbraham, who had a son Alfred ,this was my grandfather.

Any information regarding this family, however small, would really be appreciated.

Many thanks, Linda Rhead

Hi,Kerry,

Had  a look at your Boatmen website today..I loved it.....:)

It was great to see my ancestors listed up there. Mine are the Fradleys.Benjamin Fradley born 1796 was the brother of my three times great grandfather Solomon, who was also a Boatman until he became an Inn-Keeper in or around 1851. Do you know if any of the photos on the website have any of the Fradley family on them?

Linda..:)

Hi all -

My boatmen were named Johnson, working on the Mersey-Trent Canal between Runcorn, Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton throughout the 19th century.  Some of the family were born at Barnton and others at Sandbach.  I'm descended from Peter Johnson, born c.1810 at Barnton, the son of Michael Frederick Johnson.  His brothers, both boatmen, were George (born 1806 Liverpool)  and John (born 1807 Liverpool).

Peter's children included William (born 1853 Wolverhampton) who became boatman of the 'Barlaston' and married Jane, daughter of Edward Wordsby, also a boatman.
