It would be helpful if you could give us some more details like names and dates (even approx. dates would help).
There are 3 Carrowreagh townlands (and a place called Carrowreagh mountain) in Co. Antrim. The one in Grange of Drumtullagh Parish has a Samuel McPherson listed in Griffith's Valuation.

There are also other sources on the internet but will wait for more information from you before posting links.

Thanks to you both ..this is my first venture into Rootchat

Yes the Samuel McPherson of Carrowreagh, Grange of Drumtullach is my GG grandfather. I was hoping to find his marriage? I have no name of a wife.

And I do have the marrriage of Wm his son to Jane Hodge on 22nd June 1860. I would like to find more about the Hodge family. Her fatther was James Hodge carpenter of Mosside.

Some of the children you mention fit I think from what I have:
Douglas,
I have a Bella Marie and a date of 25 Oct 1871...could there be that much difference
I have a Margaretta and adate of 10 aug 1879..again??
From my mother's recolection there was also an Alexander after Samuel,
and I have found myself
Mary Jane b 23 Dec 1862, David b 7 Mar 1877, John b 13 Aug 1882 and my gandmother Mathilda b 27 May 1885.
The family story is that the two eldet boys emigrated oteres apart from my grandmother and Margaretta stayed Ireland ...and I am not sure how to follow this through...any furhter help would be great.

Sheena (in New Zealand)

Samuel and I have a date b 9th May 1861
Alexander ...but I have no record and instead I have a

Civil registration of non-Catholic marriages in Ireland started in 1845 so there will be no marriage certificate for Samuel McPherson. To find church record of the marriage (if the records exist) you need to know their religion and the name of the church and then check the dates of the marriage records for the church.

It might be worth checking Will Extracts on PRONI website (www.proni.gov.uk)- site not working well at the moment but just keep trying. If Samuel McPherson is listed the record will give his date and place of death, amount of his Estate, occupation and executor(s).
