Don't you believe it Toni, its an avenue, the present government might well think of!  At least we'd use less heating with less windows  ::) ::)

Thanks for all the comments - does double-glazing count as two windows therefore double tax

Hi, I'd like more info on Holmshurst Manor, if you have it.  I might be able to refer you to pictures.

pkeets,
Many thanks for your contact with me, I am interested in anything that gives me more knowledge of my British history. I would particularly love any photographs which can be forwarded to me by email.
Being in New Zealand, I cannot pop in to take a look, which I would dearly love to.
I have gone back over this link and noticed in the census records which kerryb provided that in 1881 a Joseph and Susan Catt were in residence in Holmshurst, which is to me is appropriate to me as my Hepden line is actually from the line of my great-grandmother Annie Catt who emigrated to NZ in 1872.
The line with the name changes due to maternal lines is,
Catt to Ashdown to Elliott to Hepden.
If I ever got to England, a must for me would be the St. Denys Church in Rotherfield, there are so many of my Ashdown ancestors buried there.
I would also love to see Mayfield and Sedlescombe as the I have numerous Catt, Alchorne, Ashdown, Elliott, Henley, Snow, York, Morley, Sawyer, Symons, Hart ancestors there.
Holmshurst is of particular interest to me as my ancestor built it and had his initials "GH" engraved on it.
I look forward to any more information anyone has, and thank you
