Hello Roses Lass,

How good to hear from you.  ;D

I'm pretty sure I found William Wilcock on the 1851 census.
He was living with a family called Taylor, in Holme.

The reference is HO107/2441 Folio 630 Page 19
The head of household is a Richard Taylor, stonemason.

The reason I'm convinced, is that one of Richard's sons is a Christopher Taylor, about William's age, who happens to be one of the witnesses at Williams marriage to Agnes.

Also, on the 1841 census, there is a Margaret Taylor living with the Wilcock family in Holme.
I haven't been to prove a definite link, but it's suggestive isn't it?

As for Agnes and her father Edward ...  I'm in the dark.
The Read/Postlethwaite families seemed to live near to each other in Captain French, but no sign of Edward.
His wife Mary is shown as a widow in 1851, but as yet, I haven't found a death/burial for Edward.

Hi Yorkslass,
Thank you so much for your speedy reply - much appreciated. We appear to have come to the same conclusions as each other but in 1851 where is Agnes? They've just got married, William is recorded as "unmarried" and Agnes seems to be unfindable - unless you know better.
Thanks again, Roses Lass

Hi again Roses Lass,

I'm afraid I don't  ::)

It is strange that the census was taken a week after they married.  Who knows - when the census forms were delivered ...  maybe Agnes's mother or grandmother didn't include her because they thought she'd be living with her new husband.

I'm not worried too much though.  Satisfied I have Agnes on the 1841, living with her grandmother Jane Postlethwaite and sister Isabella in Captain French Lane.  A few doors down, her mother Mary Read.

Thanks again Yorkslass

I guess some mysteries are meant to remain unsolved!
Thanks for your input on this.
It's good to know that someone else has drawn the same conclusion as me.
My brain has been puzzling over this for the last 15yrs.

Regards, Roses Lass
