Jerome Bannigan
« on: Monday 31 January 05 23:20 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for info on Jerome Bannigan.  He was born in Dublin (probably between 1910 & 1920) and moved to Glasgow, Scotland, with his family when he was aged 6.  I know that I do not have a lot to go on, but in 1936 he attempted to assasinate King Edward VIII of England.  This is BIG family history if he is connected to my lot.
Is anyone out there connected?

Here's hoping  ;)
Researching - Lawton in Cheshire, Staffordshire & Lancashire; Bissette in Ireland; Bannigan in Scotland & Ireland: Goodwin in Cheshire & Staffordshire.

I am researching the life of Jerome Bannigan (also known as George McMahon). I have read that he died in 1970 but have been unable to find any other information - for example, where he was living when he died, the actual date of death. Would anyone be able to help?

Several newspapers reported his being sentenced to 12 months hard labour in Feb 1951 for fraud.

Real name Jerome Brannigan, changed to George Andrew Mcmahon. Address given in court was Chiltern Street, Marylebone

Thanks for that speedy response. I understood his surname was BANNIGAN, not Brannigan. Have you any idea where he was living when he died, and the actual date of death?

perhaps you could pick him up on the 1939 register

Death entry

Mar 1970 Wandsworth   5e   1417
MCMAHON   George Andrew   About 1900

Edit

If you do a free search 1939 register there are

George (A) McMahon 1902
Rose McMahon 1893
Jerome Bannigan 1903

in St Marylebone London

Perhaps checking the London Electoral Register to see if there is a
George A McMahon, Rose McMahon or a Jerome Bannigan listed
