Many war memorials do not list the names of even the men and women who were killed. Ballymoney in Co. Antrim only put names on their war memorial a few years ago after much research to find names to be included.

"Today I found a DANIEL DALY. This was my grandfathers uncle....younger brother of Luke Daly....son of another Luke Daly and Mary Boyd.It seems possible that this is the person who collected John Daly R.I.F. World War 1 Medals on behalf of the family. Does anyone know about Daniel? He was a lodger in Ann Street Dungannon in 1923 after returning from working away somewhere. What happened to the medals?I WOULD love to see if they could be sent to the ROYAL IRISH FUSILIERS MUSEUM,with a little info on MY GRANDFATHER John Daly to remember his great sacrifice of his life at Mont Noir France and Flanders."

Thank you all for the leads... :)I had put posts on other places including the one seen by Marc.I always am given little snippets from people but when I  chase them up it is tantalisingly close to grandfather and his family with just a tiny hint of something or someone who does not seem to fit.....but then maybe they do fit and I  just have not put the jigsaw together correctly.
Keep right on to the end of the road.

My wife’s father was john Daly
Very little is known about him shortly after he married in Gloucester he died in 1963 aged 33 leaving 2 siblings (boy/girl)
There is no known home address in Ireland he had a sister living in LONDON? And brother..s?
He came over as a carpenter? But ended up working at the GAC Gloucester Air Craft as  security and fire officer,
That’s all we know and have except for the odd photo.
We have tried for many years for more information but drown a blank.

I think the person is a cousin of my grandfather also John ..interested to hear more ..k
