Thanks.  I have researched and provided the documentation for the DAR, now I am interested if we arrived before the 1700.  I've read Edwards Hall used to be castle but doesn't exist anymore????

Hello  :)

According to a Glamorgan Record Office leaflet on the Edwards Millions, "even the very existence of an Edwards Hall near Cardiff has yet to be established"

http://www.glamro.gov.uk/adobe/edwards.pdf

so although it may have existed, the Glamorgan Record Office have no documents relating to Edwards Hall.

Best wishes
Morgan

I have a genealogy of the Edwards of Glamorgan. Dawson was my great grandmother's maiden name. I have her wedding picture hanging in my living room. I would be happy to share the information I have with you.

My father - Richard Edwards passed away June 1st which leaves me as the last one in this line. I do have some cousins that are Conaways.

Feel free to email me at - * if you would like to ask me any questions. Some of the info I have goes as far back as the 1500's.

Hope to hear from you - Donna E Wood(*)

I'm having trouble with some of the descendants of Thomas Nathaniel Edwards (1690-), who was my 6th great grandfather.  Specifically, Ancestry.com has numerous errors, gaps, and many of the marriages or births simply could not have occurred.  I'm specifically interested in Jonathan Edwards (1720?) and his descendants as I have a DNA cousin who is linked down this path if I can sort it out properly.

Thanks,

Paul

I can't private post here so have to post out in the forum.

I am on FTDNA.  In fact, here are all my coordinates:

23andMe: Paul Duncan
Ancestry.com: grems8544
FTDNA: Kit 281914 (FMS, FF, yDNA-67 (-111 pending))
GEDmatch:  A607046 and M181457
AncestryDNA Verified DNA Links:  http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/58438162
Ancestry Working Tree: http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/56579773

My yDNA suggests that I'm a Bennett -- long story there on how I get from being a Bennett to a Duncan.  Duncan is irrelevant for the purposes of surname tracking.

My great grandparents were Harry Frank Bennett (1887-1949) and Pearl Elizabeth Jones (1885-1951).

Pearl's father, Thomas Valentine Jones (1824 - 1906) [yes, he fathered her when he was 61; he married Mary Hopkins, 25 years his junior], has a direct ancestor trail to the Edwards line at *his* grandparents level.  Thomas' grandparents were Richard Jones (1742) and Sarah Edwards (1742).

Sarah's parents were William Edwards (1720-1801) and Elizabeth Dimmery (1715-1781).

William's parents were  Thomas Nathaniel Edwards Sr. (1690-1781) and Sarah Elizabeth Isabella Downing (1692-1742).  These two form my most recent common ancestor pair with the person who I have an autosomal DNA link with.

My DNA cousin suggests that his link to Thomas Sr. is through Jonathan (John?) Edwards, c 1720.  He has a trail from present day back to Thomas Sr. which is simply wrong.  You can review his tree here:

http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/17443024/person/20393971225

What is important is that I am showing cousinship with him, and the trail appears to be through the Edwards line.

Any help correcting his mess in his line would be appreciated.

Regards,

Paul
