John Hamilton
« on: Friday 24 October 08 14:36 BST (UK) »
I've managed to track my ancestor (John Hamilton) back to Waterford, Ireland where he was born in 1843.
He was married in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1870 to Miriam Metham and his marriage certificate states his father was also called John Hamilton and was a musician by occupation.

After trawling through various records the '1821 Waterford Census Extract' includes the Hamilton family: John (head), Hannah (Wife), Otho (aged 21) and John (aged eight).
John (head) although listed as a cabinet maker was widely believed to have once owned a music shop (according to some findings). Otho became a piano teacher but I can't find the eventual occupation of John (aged eight). If he did become a musician maybe he was the father of John Hamilton who married Miriam.
Can anybody help?
