Do you know anything else at all about these folks?

They don't appear to be in the 1851 census (not for Perthshire, anyway), and none of the National Archives Chelsea pensioners named Ronald McDonald or MacDonald appear to be him (at least none seem to have been born in Perthshire). Scotland's people doesn't appear to have any entries for the marriage of Ronald McDonald to Elizabeth McNaughton any time between 1800 (when Elizabeth would have been somewhere between 11 and 16) and 1841.

The IGI has this Family Group Record, but there is no submitter's information, and it is not a parish register extract.

Husband  Ronald MCDONALD
Birth:     < 1777>     <Comrie, Perth, Scotland>
Marriage:     < 1802>     <Comrie, Perth, Scotland>

Wife  Elisabeth MCNAUGHTAN
Birth:     < 1781>     <Comrie, Perth, Scotland>
Marriage:     < 1802>     <Comrie, Perth, Scotland>

IGI also has
MARGARET MCDONALD    Christening:  22 MAY 1803  Comrie, Perth, Scotland

Father:     RONALD MCDONALD
Mother:     ELISABETH MCNAUGHTAN
Batch No.: C113414     Dates:  1738 - 1820    Source Call No.: 1040075

and, on the same film,
ARCHIBALD MCDONALD    Male    Christening: 24 NOV 1805  Comrie, Perth, Scotland

Hi Gene-ee-us

This is the problem
I have 4 records from the national archives for Ronald MacDonald all fit the time frame.
The Ronald MacDonald I am looking for died before the 1851 census his widow was living as a lodger at the inn in Comrie on the night of the 1851 census and is listed as a widow, she died in 1864 in Muthil and is listed as widow of Ronald MacDonald army pensioner.
His son my direct descendant married an isabella mcewen from Muthil Parish and this family of MacDonalds stayed in Muthil up until the 1930s

yours aye

Hi All
After many years I am Still looking for details on the elusive gentleman above.
originally on the Scotland general board link here.
Threads merged.

On 1841 census Ronald McDonald states he is 56 he was born in Comrie and his wife is Elizabeth McNaughtan and is Army Pensioner.(this from copy of census)
What I know for certain.
His wife died 1st Jan1864 in Muthill Village (copy of Death Cert)States widow of Ronald McDonald old Soldier her parents are Alexander McNaughtan and Elizabeth McAinsh.1851 Census Elizabeth is staying at the Inn in Comrie and is listed as widow.
His Family:
Alexander born 29March 1801
Margaret   born 22 May   1803
Archibald Born 24Nov    1805
The Above was obtained by trawling through microfiche copies of OPR’s in the AK Bell Library in Perth.
Son James (my direct ancestor born circa 1813 ) Died 15Sept 1895 in Muthill (copy of Death cert) on his death cert his parents listed as Ronald McDonald Old Soldier Decd mother Elizabeth McNaughtan Decd.

James married Elizabeth McEwan in Blackford in 9th Apr 1843.Her parents are James McEwan and Ann Sharp.
James’s family are
Ronald born Circa 1845 died 27Feb1928
Ann Sharp McDonald born circa 1846 Died 15Jul1935
James born 1851 Died 12Aug 1914 My Gr Grandfather
John born 8thJuly1855 Died 25Feb1871
McDonald McDonald born 1st Jun 1857 died 2nd Jun 1857
Janet McDonald Born 2Feb 1864 Died 2 Oct 1931.
Given that The opr’s for Comrie at this time are what you would call a bit of a mess with some details written on top of others and other information written in margins, and as this family seems to follow the Scottish naming pattern Could this be part of Ronald’s family from Comrie in the late 1700’s or am I clutching at straws looking for a way back in time.

Parents:
Archibald McDonald and Christian McEwen
John born 1761
Mary born 1763
Angus born 1766
Donald born 1768
Allan born 1770

Or does anyone have any other sugestion's or info

Yours Aye

Hi All

I am still trying to find birth for this elusive gentleman.

link to original post.
Threads merged.

All information I had until fairly recently said that he was from Comrie in Perthshire now I am not so sure.
I have obtained a copy of his pension record from 1812 and a copy of the paperwork when pension ceased. copies below.

I also have a copy of one of his sons death cert which states what regiment he was in and it ties up.

In your other thread you stated

Quote
On 1841 census Ronald McDonald states he is 56 he was born in Comrie

The 1841 does not show actual birthplaces.  It shows him as "born in county" (ie) Perthshire as he was living in Comrie at that time

As he was 56 in 1841 - presume the bottom document is from 1844/45

I notice it refers to him as Ronald W Donald

Looks like Snesthal that is written which could be a bad translation of Stainsal/Stenscholl Parish which is the NE corner of Kalmuir on Skye.
