Hi everyone,
Thanks for all your input on the Arnolds.
I can not seem to get any further in finding out where John Arnold was born or anything about his parents. I did try to find out more about Charles and Emma Arnold living in Gorbals but i can't find where they were married or if they had children.
I think some of the names mentioned of births in Camlachie were some of my great aunts and uncles and my grandfather (william).
I wish i had more information.
Saral

Hi

Quote
His mum Laura was born in Worcester and they married in Kidderminster in 1891

Neither the English, Welsh or Scottish 1901 census has an entry for them

If they married in 1891, there must have been children born before your grandfather in 1903.  Do you know the names of any of your grandfathers siblings?

Thanks. I will check them out.
I think they must have moved to Glasgow just before my grandfather was born.

I think I have found them on the 1901 via daughter Hilda b 1895.  Laura is shown as Louisa but the children match up with what you say

79 George St Kidderminster - children all b Kidderminster

John Arnold 30 carpet weaver b Kidderminster
Laura/Louisa 29 b Worcester
Alfred 8
Hilda J 6
John 1
Lavinia Payne 24 boarder b Kidderminster

Hello,
I know this is years later, but I am Edwin Arnold's son. Your grandfather, Bill, and grandmother, Min, I visited several times in Kidderminster. I know a fair amount. The family moved to Glasgow around 1902 when there was a downturn in the carpet industry in Kidderminster. Bill, Fred, Laura and my father were all born in Glasgow. Let me know if this site is still active.
