Incoming Passenger Lists 1878-1960 - look-up request

Hi,

I wonder if any kind person with Ancestry subscription could look up the details of the following people in the Incoming Passenger Lists 1878-1960? (The surname is Mazzie and Mazzei).

They are:-

John Mazzie;

Giovanni Mazzei;

Alice Mazzei;

Andrerck Mazzei.



I think the last one is probably Andrew, but mis-transcribed, as Andrew Mazzei was married to Alice Mazzei.

Andrew's father was Giovanni (John) Mazzei, so I am attempting to find details on him also.

Alice and Andrew L (that's how I read the entry) are both Italian. Andrew is an architect. Alice is Modeller.

Thankyou very much for the information.

Andrew L. is correct, as his full name was Andrè Jean Louis Mazzei, and he became a British Film Art Director using the name Andrew L. Mazzei.

The Giovanni (John) isn't Andrew's father, but at least I can eliminate him.

Darin - I am researching Andrew Mazzei as part of work on the WInter Gardens in Blackpool for a Conservation Management Plan for the buidlings.  I have a limited amount of information about him, largely from the internet, including your very useful responses here, but could do with knowing more about his design of rooms at the Winter Gardens, especially whether he had designed rooms before, whether he did it again afterwards, and whether Alice, as a modeller, could have been involved with the modelled villages in the Spanish Hall.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jenny,

Thank you for your message.

I have got Andrew's naturalisation records which states that he studied architecture and worked as a modeller, and during WWI he was commissioned to do special architectural and modelling work on Lord Kitcheners house in Broome Park, Kent.

He then carved artificial limbs for mutilated soldiers, before finding work as a Set designer for the Famous Players-Lasky Film Company.

I have a copy of an advert he took out in "The Cinema" magazine from 1936, which has a photo of him, and also lists the rooms he designd for the Blackpool Tower and Winter Gardens Co. - from memory I think that he designed about 7 or 8 rooms.

My computer isn't working at the moment, and I can only check my mail every so often, but when I am up and running, I can send you copies.

Darin - many thanks for that.  Hope you had a good Christmas and New Year.  I thought the Famous Players Lasky Film company was a New York Outfit, did they have premises in England or did he work for them over there?

The rooms I know he designed at the Blackpool Winter Gardens were the Baronial Hall, Galleon Bar, Spanish Hall and the amusements of the Olympia hall, all in 1930-1932.  Does the advert mention any other rooms that he designed?
