Morning fellow Roots Chat Folk.  Thanks very much for the info.  Reason I'm chasing down Zelda with interest is that one gentleman found when he applied for a visa that as a baby he was adopted out and further research showed he was fathered by an uncle.  The uncle wanted to financially support the mother and child but Mum whisked her away to Auckland and had the boy adopted with no consultation.  Hence I am keen to find out who her parents were.
The above uncle lived in Cambridge and I've heard that is where she came from, whether birth or lived there, I don't know.  I haven't had any proof that she was there, it was just mentioned in passing I think.  BELLBIRD

Hi there BELLBIRD.

Hopefully once you have the death notices it should tell you how old she was when she died.

Also the marrriage or death printout will tell you who her parents were.

Hope that helps

There are some Cranch's buried Paeroa
http://property.hauraki-dc.govt.nz/cemetery/cemetery_search.asp
one with middle name of Florence that would fit time period for Zelda's parent. Adress Te Aroha Road, so if farmers, could well have moved from Ngatea area.
Bye

Hi

It should be noted that, with the exception of info provided here by Althea, details for Zelda Floris CRANCH have already been given in Bellbird's other thread, entitled "Basil CRANCH family".

I would like to know who her parents were and when and where she was born.

The above uncle lived in Cambridge and I've heard that is where she came from, whether birth or lived there, I don't know. I haven't had any proof that she was there, it was just mentioned in passing I think. BELLBIRD

Bellbird   .... here are the details again for Zelda.

NZ Birth Index

1914  -  CRAUCH* (sic) - Zelda Floris - (Folio # 1902) - registered at Cambridge - 2 quarter :
[Note:   An amendment also appears on the 1914 Birth Index which shows the surname altered to "CRANCH"] :

I'm getting back to some older requests which I haven't solved yet.  I'm trying to find the names of her parents as she was it seems born or lived in Cambridge at the same time  as my branch of the Cranch family.  This would would ascertain as to whether she is a family member or from another branch which I have heard of.Is anyone able to solve this puzzle for me?   BELLBIRD

Wondering if you have tried emailing
Cambridge Library
http://www.waipadc.govt.nz/Council/AboutOurServices/Library-Resources+and+Services.htm
and seeing if they have a newspaper index which may show birth notice
