I'm hoping I'll get a starting point from their marriage certificate if I can find that. Thats sort of why I'm startign with Rose firsh because my mum knew abit about her to begin with, so through her I'm hoping to get to him.

Neither myself or my mum have contact with my grandmother, so asking her is out of the question I'm afraid

Hi,

Do you have a copy of Rose's death certificate?  Who was the informant; if it is George then you can search for his death after July 1981.

Sometimes you have to go sideways in order to go backwards!

Now, I think I'm going to send off for their marriage cert and her birth cert and see what info I can get from them.



Nanny Jan - he definatly died before her, I don't have her death cert, I think I might send off for that aswell... I think between the 3 certificates I might be able to a fair  bit of information.

I think you will find alot of your answers if you go to ancestry.com, and look up the Duncan Family tree - click on to the Christopher Regan link and bingo! You will see the descendants of the rumoured "other side of Rose Westguard's family".  Rose (rosa may) was my husband, Chris's Grandmother. Have a look at that website as I am sure you will find it of interest. I was wondering if Brenda Lanen is contactable??

I am also a granddaughter of George Francis Lane. I am looking for information about Rose May Lane's family (nee Westguard). My father was born in LA and his younger brother in New Zealand and they moved to England after living in Vancouver where their mother (George Francis Lane's first wife) left her family and moved back to Ontario. My Dad says he had four half-sisters (including Margaret and Doris) in Romford and his step-mother was Rose. He can't remember much more. He left the family early on a scholarship and never went back.

I am Elizabeth Anne Lane's granddaughter.
Elizabeth (b. 1942) is now living in Edinburgh, Scotland. She is in contact with Margaret, who is still living in England, but not with Brenda. Doris passed away a few years ago.
Rose May Westguard, according to my grandmother who has a copy of both her mother's birth certificate and the marriage certificate of Rose and George Francis, had two brothers and a sister, and her father, Frederick James Westguard worked in 'general labour.' His parents were Danish, they anglicized the name 'Vestegaard.' Rose's mother is supposed to have come from Northern France.
Elizabeth had one son, Guy Matthewman, my father.
