Hi KHP,

At the moment I think I will not give out my email address, if you don't mind and just keep using this chat line for any contact with this other researcher.  :-\

But it sounds like they are the same people and it would be great if they slotted in.  :D

Hi All

Yes, good work by KHP in providing the link to the other researcher.

Althea's thought, about inviting the researcher to join in this thread, is an excellent idea    :)  ... that way, all the info can be brought together in one place and there is scope to "iron out" any " inconsistencies" ?

[At the moment I'm a little puzzled that Daniel's death cert. and the cenotaph record for Samuel G.M., record their mother as "Martha ANDREWS"  ... but yes, should wait for further info (and sources) to be provided (hopefully) by the other family researcher)  ;)

Lu

Have given the researcher this thread, so hopefully they will join in, and see what results have been posted.

Hi
I'm the researcher mentioned. I have Daniel born 1873 in Hamilton's birth certificate. Not difficult as I still live there. My gran Annie Calderhead Andrews was also born in Hamilton.  Their parents were John Andrews and Mary Miller. Mary was the daughter of David Miller and Annie Calderhead. Annie died after 1851 and David remarried Janet Erskine. He was the son of Daniel Miller and Mary Faulds from Whitburn in Lanarkshire.  Annie was fron Shotts in Lanarkshire. I have the family in census records to 1891. But in the 1901 census could only find Annie and David and no death certificates.
So I assumed Daniel and John had moved somewhere else probably when their grandfather David died in 1897.
I have no records with the name Galbraith although there are other Daniel Millers in the area as the   Scottish naming convention means cousins have same name.
Hope this helps
Jean

Welcome Jean  ;D
The naming customs to cousins is interesting
So the Annie Calderheads we have in NZ could be fitting into this line somewhere do you think??
So does it look like this is def another family

Sadly it doesn't look like a direct link...but maybe somewhere
Maybe we some posts to scottish board -  to find this family who arrived 1909. Are they considered the best match for the original posting???

Great news.
I've located John Andrews in the 1901 census. Clue was Johnstone as mentioned here.
He was living at 22 Russell Street Johnstone. He was 30 and a gatekeeper storeman. Married to Martha who was 28. He was my gran's brother, born in West Calder and Daniel Craig Miller Andrews brother. Martha was a British subject born in India. Children were Daniel aged 7 born Coatbridge. Samuel aged 5 born in Howwood, John aged 2 born Johnstone and Mary aged 5months also born Johnstone. How much information would you like about John's ancestors?

Hi to everyone and especially to Jean our new help. :D

John  and Martha's departure from Liverpool and arrival in NZealand were  as far as we had gone back, so any information you have would be fantastic. As much as you can give me. ;D ;D :-*

British subject born in India, makes it even more interesting, a million and one questions spring to mind. :o
