Marriage Sidney Albert Tagg and ?
« on: Thursday 06 November 08 18:49 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

This is my first attempt at any research in Australia.  I am looking for the marriage of my uncle Sidney Albert Tagg.  I have pictures of his bride but no name.  The wedding would have taken place sometime in the 1920s or early 1930s I think, probably in Sidney where I  believe he spent most of his time but I know he sailed from London to Melbourne in 1922 so he may have met his wife there.

Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Australian Board.

Sorry there is nothing on the BDM, NSW for Sidney Albert Tagg.

Someone else may be able to find the marriage in Melbourne, Victoria

No marriage in Queensland to 1929 either.

There is the marriage of an Albert S Tagg in Waverley, NSW in 1933 to a Doris C White. Ref = 9121.

If you decide that this marriage is worth investigating further, the cheapest way is through a transcription agent. Details available at http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,300394.0.html

do  you  have  his death  details at all?

A copy  of his death certificate will  reveal  his wifes names (If the informant knew  the details)

Thank you for that.  I don 't have his death certificate but I know he was estranged from his wife so she would probably not appear on that.  I think the Albert S one is probably the one I am looking for so that gives me something else to follow up.

He died in Sidney, Livingstone actually, in about 1980.

You mention that Sidney Albert TAGG died in Sydney, NSW [According to google maps the only Livingstone I could find in NSW is south east of Wagga Wagga, not in Sydney] the name of his wife should be on his death certificate, ie if the informant had the knowledge.  Their living arrangements do not effect the legal status of marriage.

If this is his passenger record then I would think he would be known as Albert S TAGG

http://www.access.prov.vic.gov.au/public/PROVguides/PROVguide050/PROVguide050.jsp
Unassisted Immigrants

TAGG A S Mr   Aged 24   DEC   1922   BELTANA     Port B   Fiche 961    Page 0

and perhaps the spelling of his name should be Sydney

Births Dec 1898
TAGG    Albert Sydney         Brentford    3a   94

You will not be able to purchase either a transcription [cheaper alternative to full cert] or certificate for another 2 years ie if he died in 1980.

From the NSW BDM website
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/index.htm

Years of Access

Family History Certificates are unrestricted in the following years. This means that for the years mentioned below, identification is not required and in most instances, the certificate can be released to any applicant.

Unrestricted records (Family History Certificates) are available within the following years:

Births: that occurred 100 years ago or more
Marriages: that occurred 50 years ago or more
Deaths: that occurred 30 years ago or more

Hope you find this helpful.

Cheers
