ok my cousin has been doing some research plus connected in with a Perkins Family Tree.

She is going to verify that Ann Horton is the Ann who married our Richard Perkins.

The information she had discovered via Ancestry is that

Susanna Horton m Richard Saunders and they had a son William

Ann Saunders then married Thomas Smithies

Then the next year she married Richard Perkins as Ann Sander/Ann Horton (Ann Sanders and Ann Horton appear to be the same person).

If the family tree is correct (that also provides certificates) my Perkins line has been traced back to

Thomas Perkins wife Ellen Tompkin (born 1400) of Warwick

son

William Perkins born 1430 Warwick.

(my cousin and I are now verifying the information ourselves)

Thanks. My cousin and I don't accept anything as gospel without verification. She is trying to verify it.

I just passed that on and she went bugger.

She has found two Perkins family trees on Ancestry. One takes us back to Thomas Perkins and Ellen Tompkins (born 1400) in Warwick who had a son William in 1430 in Warwick.

Another takes us back to King Henry III

We are sceptical about these and don't accept anything without us doing our own research.

Trish,

I just found a Christening for an Ann Horton 18 Nov 1773 Saint Phillips, Birmingham with parents Joseph Horton and Ann.

My Richard's children (mother Ann) were Christened at Saint Phillips, Birmingham just after the marriage of Richard Perkins and Ann Horton (It may be just a coincidence though).

Yes. I am very sceptical of Family Trees that go back that far to 1400's.
Unless from a well off/well known Family with what is known as a "Gateway Ancestor" it is impossible to go back that far with most Trees.
Only Burials/Wills etc can confirm info.
Most of us with humble Ancestors are lucky to get back to the mid 1700's.

I did give you that another christening for another Ann Horton which I think matches the 1851 Census for the unm Richard Perkins;

1851 Census
Richard Perkins, 52, Head, Unm, Ag Lab, born Old Stratford, Warwickshire
Ann Perkins, 74, Mother, Widow, born Aston Cantlow
Mary Parker, 13, Niece

Ann ORTON christened 22 May 1777 Aston Cantlow to EDWARD/MARY

So Ann Orton is Ann Horton and was born, lived and died in Aston Cantlow (so deleted as an option)

Trish, I was just informed that "of the Parish" could mean being residents there for just the qualifying period (about 3 weeks) to be able to get married and not born there or have lived there for an extended period of time
