Will finding

Hi, My g g grandfather was still married to his parted wife when he died, and in his Will he apparentley left his house and money to his housekeeper who i presume to be his lover. I obtained a record of his work details (He was an insurance man), and its recordedthat his enstranged wife had wrote to his employers wanting to know his wage because he was not giving her enough to get by!

Does anyone know how i could get a copy of his Will? He died in Southport Sept 1939.

You can get a copy by post (not online) from:

It is £5 for a copy of the will and grant of representation.  You can also search the indexes yourself at First Avenue House, High Holborn, London but it is still £5 to see a copy of the will.

If the will was only a do-it-yourself type and not proved through the courts then they won't have any details.

Thanks for that, I didnt know they were that easy to get hold of! I thought I would have to look for solicitors or prove next of kin!
