Cooke's Larne & Kilwaughter
« on: Wednesday 19 November 08 09:27 GMT (UK) »
Im trying to track my family tree..... well helping my dad really. Our family are originally from Kilwaughter in Larne and they worked in the castle as "cooks" or chef's as it may be. My dad is Alan and grandfather is John,he had sister's called Sarah and Maisie. All born in Larne Co. Antrim, N.Ireland.  This is all new to me, and am looking some guidance or help.

Perhaps there are some Cooke's on this site!!

Any help would be appreciated!

Renowned for our swerthy skin, my dad reckons that there is actually Italian blood somewhere down the line..

Hi Cookie

Welcome to Rootschat.

People on this site are very keen to help but you will need to give more information for them to go on.

Are your family still in Ireland or did they emigrate?  If they emigrated where did they go and around what date?

Are you looking for current family or tracing your ancestors?

If you have names of grandparents, where and when they were born (even if only approximate dates) this will help.

Good luck with your searching

Welcome to Rootschat. As Sandgrounder1 says we really do need more details to find more information or to suggest where to look next. Just remember not to post details of living relatives.

Hi
If you google Kilwaughter Castle it brings up a lot of hits and you might find something on there.  My ancestors were from that area too (didnt work in the Castle tho), found some info on them on the 1851 Census.  The Agnews from the Castle have a Family Genealoogy Site on genforum I think, might be worth a look as well.

Hi Robert, the site seems to have removed your e.mail. I sent you one from an address I got from another site concerning this... Id really like to get in touch but am not sure how! Ive been in contact with Ted Cooke who has e-mailed me a copy of the info/family tree he has. I think there may be a possibility that your great great grandfather is my dad's too..... hopefully hear from you soon. Lauren

*Kookie*, email addresses aren't supposed to be posted on Rootschat due to issues like spam, etc. You have to make a few posts before using PM (personal message) system here (anti-spam measure) and then you can send email addresses, details of living relatives, etc.
