samual widdowson- where & when

trying to find more info on a samual widdowson born thorne s.yorkshire 1883, mother ellen brock, father william widdowson, waterman in 1901 census, not married then. still alive in 1907, but who did he marry & where did he live. anyone out there know the answer.

hi wendy, thanks for replying,samual & rebecca, his sister, put a headstone on their mother & fathers grave in the cemetry where i live & it says on it erected by samual & rebecca in 1907. We have info on all his brothers & sisters but he eludes us.

Looks like you'll maybe have to wait until the release of the 1911 census like me to maybe find the answer.

Hi Moira

Have you tried contacting the burials department responsible for the cemetery?  They may well have a grave register listing details ie. address etc. at the time of erecting the headstone.  If you can get an address, you can then check street diretories and then move on to electoral registers.

There was a Samuel WIDDOWSON married in Hull 1905 but he might not be yours:

Hi everyone, the one who died in 1914 was 58yrs old, so that rules him out, also the marriage in hull, if its sculcoates, then its not the right one as my sister checked that a few years ago. i could check the burials dept, hopefully they will still have records that far back, we have two cemetries & the stone is in the old one which the council flattened & just stood the headstones anywhere, but i will give it a try.

Just a thought, have you tried the local newspaper in the area you say the grave is?

They may have put a notice in the paper that may give you some more names to work on.
