Hi!

I have a Mary [Ann] Pantell living with my great-great-grandparents Edward and Ann Allen in Upper Collwal, Herefordshire in 1851. She is listed as being 26 and a niece, but I don't know on whose side or how she is related to them.

I've found that her baptism took place on June 19th 1825 in Colwall; her parents were George Pantall (sic) and Mary Ann, maiden name unknown.

I have only just found this out so don't quote me, but I believe Mary Ann Pantall's mother may be a sister of my gr-gr-grandmother or my gr-gr-grandfather.

I've found no more references to Mary Ann in Colwall after 1851, at least with the Allen family. If any of this information tallies with what you have please contact me.

Regards!

Hi cimbrio,
I have been trying to link Mary Ann Pantell and the Allens with no luck so far;

Edward ALLEN was Baptised 25 September 1803, St James the Great, Colwall, Hereford to THOMAS/SARAH
Siblings;
THOMAS 07 March 1802
WILLIAM 20 June 1805
MARY ANN 26 Dec 1807
JOSEPH 19 Nov 1809
ANNA MARIA 12 April 1812
(FreeREG0
BURIAL SARAH Allen, 20 May 1861 age 83
(FreeREG)

IGI has a Submitted Marriage of THOMAS Allen to Sarah JONES 29 May 1801

Edward and Ann Baptised;
ANN 14 April 1838
JOHN 14 August 1842
WILLIAM HENRY 16 March 1845
CLARA 08 April 1849
(Source of all these Records FreeREG)

Another Submitted Record has EDWARD Allen Marrying Ann LEWIS 26 March 1838, Withington, Hereford
Edwards Father THOMAS Allan, Anns Father Thomas WILLIAMS
(more research, was she a Widow?)

Now I noticed a Ann HILL with the Allens in 1851 Census and found this which may fit in somewhere later;
Sarah PANTALL Married William HILL 09 Nov 1785,
Stretton-Gransome, Hereford
(IGI Extracted)

Trish :)

Posting to (hopefully) revive this thread.

Still no luck in tracing a possible marriage between GEORGE PANTALL (or PANTELL or PANTING) and MARY (could this be MARY ANN ALLEN?).

They were the parents of Mary Pantell, recorded with her aunt and uncle in 1851. She was 26 at the time so born in 1825 in Colwall, Herefordsh.

She later went on to marry Joseph Callow. Any help on linking the Pantells to the real Mary (Ann) would be much appreciated.

I just received a copy of my grandparents marriage license from Coxsackie NY. My grandmother Margaret Wallace's parents were Maurice Wallace and Anna Pantell. What I remember is they were married in Ireland. I will be attempting to obtain the  birth certificate from NY State, which should give me the birth place of Anna and Maurice.

Hello,
Wondering if anyone might have better luck than me at tracing the marriage between George Pantell (alternative spellings Pantall, Panton, Panting) and Mary NN.

The couple had a daughter Mary, baptised on 19 June 1825 in Colwall. On 6 June 1832 Mary (the mother) died aged 34 at The Wyche, Upper Colwall. I haven't been able to find a death for George (the 1853 death registered in Ledbury in 1853 is for a child according to the GRO Index).

Mary (daughter) resided at The Wyche with my ancestors Ann (Rodway) and Edward Allen and is listed in the 1851 census as a niece, but I am unable to find how she was related to either Edward or Ann. I though Mary (mother) may have been the sister of Edward Allen or Ann Rodway, but I find no document or source which supports either theory. Mary later married Joseph Callow in 1855.

Grateful for any help or light anyone can shed on this long-standing mystery!
:)
