Trying to find my G Grandfather Patrick Kavanagh born 1860 Kilmarnagh, he served in the Afghanistan Campaign with the Royal Irish Rifles in 1878-1880, under Lord Roberts, and afterwards with Lord Wolseley in the Nile Expedition for the relief of Khartoum in 1884. Can anyone help please.

Could the townland be Kilmanagh, near Callan Co Klkenny ?

Roman Catholic Parish records are now available on line.
