Confused with site.
« on: Saturday 05 February 05 19:38 GMT (UK) »
It's taken me so long to find out how to post a message (find the correct buttons etc) I've forgotten what it was!  I'm sure I'll find my way around eventually and everyone says what a good site this is.  Here's hoping.  How can I gain access to the 1801 census and can anyone point me in the direction of a Northumbrian History Group which doesn't concentrate on Durham?  They appear to be thin on the ground.
Sorry to be long winded but I'm sure I'll improve.

First of all, WELCOME! And CONGRATULATIONS on posting your first message :D

Some people do make typing errors when entering dates, and I was wondering if you really meant the 1801 census ?  As far as I am aware, census's pre 1841 are of not much use to family history research. They only contain 'head counts'.

As for Northumbrian History Societies, it would be worth you posting the question on
The Durham County board. click link: http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,12.0.html.
Or The Northumberland board http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,28.0.html

Hi Worjack
My advise to you is STAY CONFUSED you cant do this job with a clear head nor can you do it unless your desk is cluttered up with cencus printouts and all manner of bits and pieces of paper but try to keep them out of the way of any cats or dogs you have coz if the ychew them up or worst still do a little whooopseee on you will have to do it all again ;D ;D ;D. Just keep a steady supply of caffiene on the go and a packet of fags or twoand lastly never-ever forget that once upon a time you did have a sense of humour and if your very lucky it might just come back
but dont hold your breath
Good hunting

Another bit of advice - keep your doors and windows closed because when you find that vital piece of evidence or a new rellie and you are leaping up and down and yelling like a banshee you realy don't want the neighbours thinking you are completely bonkers  ;D
Don't think it could happen to you? beleive me it will  ;D
