Suz,
I have managed to trace my family from 1905 to 1791 during which time they lived at Snailbeach Coppice and worked in the mine. As now at the stage when it is more difficult to track down certificates etc, I have ground to a halt.
The last definite I have is William, who in 1851 was living at Boycott? At that time he was 50 and married to Francis. Think he died 22 Nov 1864.
From IGI I think he married Francis on 24 Oct 1815.

Cheers

I can only see one William with wife Phanny both aged 60 (b 1791) and he is a butcher.  Is this the one you mean?

If he got married in 1815 I expect he would have been older than 50 on the 1851 (so born 1801).

Have you got the references for the one you've found in 1851?

I think your William was 50+ on the 1841 census (HO107/911/7):

Boycott, Pontesbury
William Blakemore, 50-4, farmer, Y
Frances B, 50-4, N
Matilda B, 15, Y
Frederick B, 15, Y
Ferdinand B, 14, Y
Lewesea B, 10, Y
Alfred B, 10, Y

There is a 68 year-old widowed William Blakemore, retired miller, living in Pontesbury in 1861. He was born in Asterly, Salop.

The 1851 entry has a 19 year-old Alfred with William, so they are probably all the same man, as Phanny is a variant of Frances.

Yep, that's the same one as on 1861 1851 with only Alfred 19 at home.

1861 - HO107/1990/324/27

William Blakemore 60, butcher b Pontesbury
Phanny 60 b Shrewsbury
Alfred 19, lead miner b Pontesbury

edit:   Frances = Phanny

There do seem to be others searching for Pontesbury Blakemores, although these were originally posted a long time ago, the first was active quite recently:
