I knew I shouldn't have complained about Lewis and Rees because the nmaes I am finding are becoming more and more unusual.
Two daughter of my gggreat aunt married in 1915 and 1916 Hydi Mohamed and Abder Ahmed. They will have been living in Roath/ Splott at that time and I image that these 2 men will be seamen. However I was wondering if any body knew anything about the area at that time and whether what must have been a cross cultural marriage was common at that time

Hello! I'm Gary Jones from Cardiff, my great-grandfather was named Hydi Mohammed, he married Isabella Stewart in 1915, his best man/ witness was recorded as Abdullah Ahmed. His daughter was Miriam Isabel Lewis, nee Mohammed, she passed away this year at 97. We've been trying to trace our ancestry too, it looks as if his name was Hadi, but misspelled Hydi, which actually makes him easier to track! We found a marriage certificate between Hydi and Isabella,and other letters after her passing, Isabella was living in Ferry road,  Cardiff, but later moved to Splott. Would be fascinated to compare notes !
