Henry Clark approx. 1733 buried in Rye St Mary Churchyard.married Mary nee Clark in Dover 1751.  Cannot find will or admon on Archives site.  Father Philip 1806 PCC will.  Henry was a haberdasher had a corn licence, voted.  Had son Henry.  Philip and Edward emigrated to Illinois 1820  Other children Thomas, John, Susanna,Mary, Mercy,

Welcome to rootschat.   Have you asked at Lewes Record Office about a will?    If it was proved at the local court rather than the PCC it will not be on the PRO documents online site.
I was not quite clear about your dates.  Born 1733?   Buried?

Sorry jumbled my people  Henry Clark 1759-1832  Father Philip Clark 1733-1806  Is Lewes the ESRO?  I have searched the on line ESRO records.  I should be looking for the Arch deanery  right?

Just a couple of snippets of information on Henry & Philip for you.

They both appear in Rye for the East Sussex Land Tax 1785.

Found an entry for Henry Clarke in the coroners records, fits the date and area.

19 May 1832 East Guldeford Henry Clarke accidentally drowned.

East Sussex Record Office in Lewes will hold wills for the parishes in the Archdeaconry of Lewes, the deanery of South Malling and the deanery of Battle. West Sussex have the Chichester ones.  However, as far as I know they are not yet all on line.  The Sussex family History group have an index of some and there are various smaller lots online.  Have a look at genuki and follw some of the links the local online parish clerks etc.

If you can get to Lewes it might be very fruitful.  The Society of Genealogists in London will probably hold any written transcripts of the index too.  Their library is fantastic.

Sorry to possibly throw a spanner in the works; but in my copy of the Rye Coroners records I have the following:

Clarke   Thomas   3 July 1852   Accidentally Drowned   Inquisitions,  Other Papers.

I cant find any mention of Henry?

The source i used was the East Sussex Coroners Records produced by the Sussex Record Society, so i don't think there is a problem there.

Having just skimmed through the introduction of the East Sussex Coroners Records it seems that Rye as a Cinque Port had its own coroner but the jurisdiction did not extend beyond the town itself. For example Rye Foreign was under the Jurisdiction of the East Sussex Coroner. The coroner for the Henry Clarke case was Thomas Charles Bellingham the county coroner of the time and he attended as it happened outside of Rye in East Guldeford. So hopefully that puts things in perspective about the records not appearing in the Rye Corners records.

Thanks for all your help.  Checked out the Sussex Records Society and I can buy the book but would like to know if The inquest is just a few line summary, or the whole thing with testimony and witnesses.  Henry was 73.  It might have been a mill accident( family had mill in 1806 Don't know where) Does it violate copyright for someone to send me the page? His sons in Rye were Thomas. Henry, John, and possibly Archer.  Lester, Henry, and Philip Harvey were nephews Also Richard Clark.  I'm sure there were more.
