Hi Mary,

Great to hear from you, thank you so much for replying, to see a photo of the house would be wonderful, also photos of the gravestones and knowing where they were buried would be great.

Do you still live in Ireland? It's great to know that the family have also been tracing the family history.

My Dad's cousin Hester, who will be your second cousin works with me, I have just told her about your reply and she is also very excited.

Anne would have been 6 when she visited, her father was a writer in the navy and was killed on the 16th of November 1940 in Bournemouth, Anne was born between October and November 1940. Anne sadly died on 23rd of December 1954 aged 14 in Inverness, after her Mum died on 25th August 1954 in Edinburgh aged 34 during a pioneering heart operation.

Looking forward to hearing more from you in time.

Hi Mary

I am Theresa (Tess) kilroe daughter of James Kilroe so that makes us first cousins. I am currently trying to research the family tree and would love if i could meet Esther and yourself to get more background information if that would be possible.

Cheers

Tess.

Hi Lynn,

Further info:

Peter Kilroe’s father was Michael Kilroe who was alive at the time of the 1911 Census.  His mother was Mary Dunne.

Esther Kilroe’s parents were Thomas Sheerin and Catherine Claffey.

I have a copy of Peter and Esther’s marriage certificate and a copy of their death certificates.  I will give you copies of these in time.

As you know, Peter and Esther had 12 children but Elizabeth died in 1900 at the age of 14.

The graveyard where Peter, Esther, Elizabeth and 5 of Margaret’s adult siblings (Catherine, Esther, Thomas, Peter and Michael) are buried is about half a mile from Peter and Esther’s home.

Peter and Esther got married in 1878 in the church adjoining the graveyard.

Margaret has 17 nieces and 5 nephews alive today.

I live about 20 minutes drive from Ballycommon where Margaret grew up.

My mother told me that Margaret was called ‘Marg’ by the family in Ireland.

How many children did Margaret have?  How old was she when she died?  Do you have any photographs of her?

Chat to you soon when I have more info.

Regards,

Mary.

-------------

Teresa, Will get in contact with you when I have all my research completed.

Regards,

Mary.

Hi Mary,

Oh wow, thank you for that info, I think we definitely need to take a wee trip over to Ireland to meet everyone and to have a look at the church and graveyard, hopefully this year sometime.

Margaret was known to everyone over in Scotland by the name Peggy. She had 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls, 1 of whom is still alive. Margaret died in 1967 aged 76. I do have photographs of her.....I have PM'd you my email address, you should be able to read the PM when you have made 3 postings to the board.

Regards

Hi Sean,

Thank you for that information, much appreciated.

I'm sorry but I have a couple of questions if that's OK?

After Christopher's name it has Ballinamona and after James it has Coniker, is that where they died?

Did you request the information from the site you gave a link to? If so, how did you know to look there?

Sorry for all the questions, still trying to get to grips with research in Ireland.....and not getting very far to be honest.  :) ???

Hi Lynn,
I was in Durrow cemetery looking for other headstones, but remembered the name Kilroe, as it's not very common, and duly noted the names!! (sure I'm great!!!)
The names of places would be their address at time of death, villages, I would presume.
I sse bt looking at the posts you have a lot of info, but if I come across any more, I will post same,
Jack
