I, m interested to know about Patrick Vallely/Vallany
who left Armagh and moved to Consett in County Durham England. (maybe evn via Scotland)

His son Charles was born about 1858. He joined the British Army in 1875 at Sunderland Co. Durham.
I reckon he should be on the 1871 senses .
Any idears please  ???

Hi Angela,

I wonder if Patrick was named after his father or would he have named his son after his father. A lot of Patrick Vallelys (or Vallellys) and the odd Charles Vallely appear in Griffiths Valuations Armagh 1864 www.failteromhat.com/armagh.php The Charles appeared at Tullyhirm, Derrynoose. The Patricks appear in several areas in Co. Armagh.

You may find the information on the attached  PDF of use in your search for Vallaleys, Vallalys  etc.  It is taken from the Blackhill burial records and is a complete listing of these names as they occur in the period 1862 - 1962.

Griffiths Valuation has a Patrick Valelly in Drumconwell townland, parish of Lisnadill, county Armagh. Have a look at

http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/armagh/lisnadill.htm

and you will see the index entry for Patrick plus three others of same/similar surname.

Hello Audrey
 & Thankyou for your reply !!  Can you explain what BVRI is ?

 the name Vallaney is mentioned  (marriage death cert)from 1887 to 1904 but I believe that Charles & his family in Consett /Blackhill had the name of
VELLANY /VELLENY. which also could be Vallely /Vallaly etc;

No...I do not have info on his mothers name. According to the Blackhill Burial records there was a JANE Vallaley wife of Patrick who died 1871 age 36yrs.
His fathers name was Patrick.
I,ve been at a standstill with this one for months   :-\
