Finlay Jackson emigration after 1871
« on: Wednesday 31 December 08 10:58 GMT (UK) »
Another attempt at finding my elusuve ancestor. Does anybody in Aus/N.Z./S.A./Can. have a Finlay Jackson in their family tree? I am convinced (sort of) that he may have settled abroad. Whether this was done officially or on a 'jumped ship' basis I'm not sure. Finlay would have been about 20 years old in 1871, the last trace I have of him in the 1871 census for Lochgilphead, Argyll in Scotland. He was listed as being a fisherman. His chritian name may also  have been spelt Findlay. He was single at the time of the 1871 census. This is probably my last shot at discovering what happened to Finlay. Keeping my fingers crossed.
