Windrush Marriages
« on: Friday 02 January 09 14:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi there.
I am a newbee to research and could really use some help/advice Please. :'(
I have traced my Husbands Great G Grandfather, a John Eeles born 1837c Chipping Norton, with a mention of Northleach district. I have two possible leads for John's Parents and Grandparents, but cannot find a way to confirm either. Would someone have time to look up a couple of marriages for me please?

Firstly, John's Parents were (according to 1841 census) William Eeles b. 1811c married to Louisa born 1816c. Both appear to be from Windrush, Northleach district.

I have also found possible Parents for William 1811c. These being John Eeles and Anne, both from Windrush.

I would appreciate any help/advice offered.
Many thanks
Lizzie

Hi Lizzie,

From parish transcriptions there is this baptism:-

John Eeles - 12th January 1838 at St Peter, Windrush
Son of William & Louisa of Windrush
Father`s Occupation - Labourer

This looks likely for the marriage:-

William Eeles (of Windrush) & Louisa Pittaway
25th October 1831 at Sherborne - Banns

Hi Lizzie, have just come across this website. I am related to your husband. My great grandfather was John Eeles of the same information that you have. John and Mary Ann had 8 children altogther, my grandfather being the youngest - Alfred born 1884. We have just been to Chipping Norton this remembrance weekend. I look forward to conversing with you, regards Sheila
