Hi Sparrett
This is great news, many thanks.

I'm related to Gwladys via the Jones family from 14 crown lane, Conway.
Last week I found, and went to, John jones' grave in st Agnes old cemetery, Conway and also located his parents grave too, Thomas Jones and Margaret Thomas both born 1842-1844 but can't find their marriage yet. They lived at bull cottages, and 5 wind street and 8 crown lane, all Conway addresses.

I have a photo of John Jones and his grave too. His wife isn't with him in either! I knew Gwladys' sister my Aunty Jinny, of Conway.

From this info, It looks like they had no children, but I have a photo of them on one of their uk visits, with a small boy and several young ladies around them which I took as their children but now maybe they are the five sisters from 1911 census. I've also found an infant death Thomas Jones 1909, aged 4 months, from 12 crown lane, sadly. I have those certificates now.

I assume from your message HD means house duties again and not Herbert division? The middle name of May is new detail as that's not in the 1911 uk census page, I would have thought it would have been like her sisters Alice Peace Jones and Margaret Elizabeth Jones.

I only have her mother as Jane Jones not Mary in her name either. You haven't stated the source of that data? Please can you advise.

So at this stage I have to assume no children, but were children included in the Aus electoral rolls? Do you have any indication on cemetery where they are buried and who with, I'm amazed you came back so quick with your response so a big thank you.

I've located a couple of passenger lists for them 1948, 1951, 1958 on the Ormande and SS Stratheden.
Regards Gareth.

I played a hunch on finding Gwladys as my nains address book gives the name of mr Ivor Turner care of 51 Hodel street, south townsville, Queensland so it's great that all this is coming together now.

Once I'd located their marriage and 54 penrhos avenue Llandudno junction address and the 12 crown lane address on passenger lists I knew I was on the right track but needed more details from their new residence in Queensland. I wonder who Ivor worked for? I also spotted an Ivor A Turner in 1925 passenger lists with his parents and several siblings going to Australia from Glos? I wonder if it's also Ivor?
Did Gwladys' mother ever get to visit them there?
Gareth.

I've checked the 1925 passenger list and Ivor's parents tally as Albert j. Turner and his wife Elizabeth. With Albert being a carpenter also leads to a link with Ivor being a French polisher so that's a plus too. Ivor must have already lived in Australia so one now questions how he came to know Gwladys in Conway? The question begs!

Albert and his children Mabel J, Ivor A, Credwen M., and Iris A. were going to Brisbane. What great name to search - Credwen Turner. Could it Ceridwen as the age 7 is in the female column on the 1925 passenger list?
Their address was given in U.K. as Pen y Bryn cottage, primrose hill, Lydney, Glos.

In the U.K. 1911 census they are living at 36 Princes street, Barry, Glamorgan, as parents with Mabel Jane and their 1909 marriage on free bmd may have been transcribed as Elizabeth Jane Howells, Bridgend district 11a/1423. Albert John delivered milk so to be a carpenter he certainly raised his employment status.

An Electoral Roll is a register of people eligible to vote .
Voting is compulsory in Australia for all people aged 18 years and over.
Prior to 1973 the age for voting was 21 years.
These registers cannot be searched by address, only by name.

So, in answer to your question, children would not be listed under the age of 21 and, unless their names were known, it would be difficult to link them to your people.

Yes, HD is intended as Home Duties .

I cannot confirm I am looking at the correct 1911 findings where I see Gwladys, the child, aged 2 months. (mentioned above)  I will leave that side of things to you.

Neither am I certain that the Gwladys MATSEN death is your woman.

EDIT. I do not think the Gwladys MATSEN is your woman

Deleted incorrect info.

See below posting.

Ivor Albert TURNER did not register to vote in QLD until the 1949 election.

The 1926 Electoral Roll
TURNER, Albert John. Cowling Street, West End, Townsville. Carpenter
TURNER Elizabeth Jane, as above. HD

I cannot locate this couple in Queensland after this time.

Do you think it possible  Gwladys returned home to Wales?

There is this death in Wales
Deaths Jun 1973

TURNER  Gwladys born 26 Oct 1910
CAERNARVON  8A/ 531

There is a UK wills and probate listing.

TURNER, Gwladys of 25 Chapel Street, Conway, Caenarvonshire died 7th May 1973.
Administration Llandaff, June 9112 pounds (733002850F)

I am not sure, but it may be worth a follow up as I do not see her on any electoral rolls in Australia after 1968 when she is  still  at 6 Short Street.

Nor do I see a death to 1985 or a burial with her husband Ivor at Townsville.

Wow Sue,
That date you give for Gwladys is the same birth date shown in the 1939 U.K. Register, 26 Oct. 1910 and the address you give for 25 Chapel street, Conway also tallies with Gwladys' 1958 passenger list (so does the birth date again) so I think you are absolutely spot on, she must have come home to Conway! Absolutely fantastic research, many thanks Sue!

I can't see any of Albert John Turner's children on the cemetery list but then again it's a huge list and I don't know if his children married in due course or surnames if they did.

I have to assume Gwladys could well be in the newer part of St.Agnes cemetery where her sister Alice Peace Evans rests, and I only found that grave last week so I will contact Mochdre crematorium who hold the records. There is only one Steven Turner in the old part of the cemetery and no other details on the headstone, only the name, not even a date.

What a life she had! I've just got to get onto that will, how on earth did you find that? I can order her death cert to see who registered it. It just shows me how families lose contact with each other, I should have met her as a child as I lived in Llandudno junction 1957-1963 and Llandudno 1963-1974 and I cannot recall if I ever did, just another Jones you see.

Once again a huge thank you for all your help.
Kind regards Gareth in kidsgrove.

You're welcome Gareth  ;D
The wills and probate file I found through a large and well known subscription website, ;) but with a little patience, I think you will find it here also

https://probatesearch.service.gov.uk/#wills

You might like to see the house at Short street in Townsville.

With a google  search, I also saw some details and picture of the cottage in Chapel St Conwy.

Hi Sue
I hope it's not those tin sheds! Maybe that where Ivor did his French polishing perhaps? Good of them to put the house no. on their bin, lol.
I've ordered all b,m,d certs for Gwladys and copy of the will today and contacted Mochdre crematorium. I've even spoken to the undertakers and they are trying to find where they took her (4 cars!) from their records. I have also emailed the Belgian Gardens Cemetery so you have opened several doors for me.

Gwladys being Methodist, could be laid to rest in Henryd or the Tabernacle cemetery near Gyffin, Conway. She doesn't seem to be in St.Agnes they tell me.

Even after 40 yrs of family history and tracing so many branches one can always find something and someone to help so it's much appreciated.
Gareth.
