Hi Ben

Thank you re. Mary Fairweather.

If you have a Teago in your line, then we must almost certainly be related, as I believe there to be just the one family of them in Suffolk! Who do you connect with and how far back have you got with them?

Hi Sue

My 5xgreat grandmother was Elizabeth Teago born in 1780 in Parham in Suffolk, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Teago. Elizabeths maiden name was Hunt.

Apparently a source said that Edward was born in Framlingham in 1752 and there was one but unfortunately this Edward died in October 1752, an infant.

OK Ben

I have 'your' Edward [1] down as baptised bapt 25th Nov 1753 in Peasenhall, son of Edward [2] & Ann [unknown] Teago. I believe him to be the next one in the same family after the Fram Edward. I seem to be missing your Elizabeth, but co-incidentally, my 2xgr.grandmother was also an Elizabeth Teago, born in Sibton in 1827 descended from Thomas Teago, so we do share some Teago genes!

Edward [2] was baptised 4th Jan 1731 Bedfield, and buried 27th April 1758 in Peasenhall. Ann was also buried there 10th March 1783 [I think] He was the son of Edward Teago [3] born 23rd February 1704, baptised 25th Feb 1704 Earl Soham, and his first wife Martha Davy, buried bur 4th Jan 1731 Bedfield.

Edward [3] was the son of Henry Teago [Teager] and Rachel South, married at Hoxne 7th Oct 1698. The marriage enrty states that Henry was from Earl Soham, where they are both buried.

As to who Henry was ... that's the million dollar question!

I should add that, although I have done my best to substantiate all the above, it's not cast in stone, and if you can prove me wrong them please feel free!

Hope this will help you a little, Sue.

Hi Sue

Gosh where did you get all that info from. That is amazing. :D

Thanks.

Also we must remember that Teago is a rare and easily mistranscribed name. I am sure the marriage of Edward to Ann is out there somewhere. When was your Thomas Teago born?

Hi Ben

I've waded through a lot of fiche in Ipswich to find most of this out, although it's also come via the internet sites and some clever [although I say so myself :-[] detective work. I guess I have too much time to waste!

Unfortunately, I live in Lincolnshire, so can only get to Suffolk now and then, which is also why I have been looking at my Norfolk bods anew, as I hope to be able get a couple of days in Norwich soon.

I have to admit, I am not 100% cast iron sure about my Thomas [1] line, but I do think he was the one baptised 24th March 1776 Peasenhall,  husband of Mary Fleet, married 26th Dec 1799 Peasenhall.

My Elizabeth was the daughter of their son John and Lucy Jerry.

My Thomas [1] was the son of Thomas Teago [2] and Ann Bence, married at Peasenhall 16th July 1775, baptised 10th Aug 1755, brother to your Edward, son of Edward and Ann etc.

Yes, it is a very unusual name and, if you look at those listed on the Free BMD site, they appear to all be our relatives. I have yet to find anyone called Teago who is not!

Who did your Elizabeth marry?

Hi

Elizabeth Teago married William Eade in 1797 in Parham. She was 17 at the time. William was born in 1772 in Parham.

Hello Sue

My grandmother Lily Rose King (nee Howell) migrated with family to Australia in 1928.  Her parents were Frederick Francis Howell and Emma A Constant (nee Rose). FF Howell's parents were John Howell and Elizabeth (nee Teago).

I believe the family lived in Sibton, Suffolk and my grandmother was born and raised in Wickham Market.

According to details I hold, John Howell and Elizabeth Teago were married in 1851 in the Parish Church of Sibton (CofE), with both fathers John Howell and John Teago being present. The certificate number is 974873.

I'd be interested to receive any other information that you may have on this branch of the family.

Best wishes,

John Arthur

Hi John

You have no idea how pleased I am to get your message!

I knew that Lily went to Austraila, and that she had descendants still alive - my grandmother was her sister Clara. I have long tried to find out more about you all, who she married etc. but, despite my best efforts, failed. I believe that you, or one of your relations, kept in contact with my Mother's late cousin, Connie Pendle? I did try & extract some information from her, but I'm afraid that she was less than helpful!

I have a lot of info. about the family, including some photos, so perhaps you would like to send your email address to my message box, & we can get to know one another!

Happy New Year,

Sue
