I am descendant of Patrick Hennigan and would like any information you have on him.  I am his sister Mary (Maria) Hennigan-Doherty's granddaughter.

Very little information on Patrick given so far in this thread, making any search difficult.
Looking at this thread
https://www.british-genealogy.com/threads/81682-Patrick-Hennigan-Irish-Guard-World-War-1/page2
I wonder if this is Patrick's birth in 1890
Born The Quay Ballina to Henry Hennigan and Agnes Monaghan

You can search Civil Reg from 1864 on

https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp

and look for the names etc that are in your PM's using following Search terms

"Private Hennigan was the first soldier in the British Army to use hand grenades in World War 1, and for doing so he was specially mentioned in dispatches".

This seems to have been unanswered!

"You need to give us more to work on - what do you know about where he was born (Ballina or just near), parents, any other relations, etc

There is a Patrick J Hennigan born Ballina in 1890 and died in Leeds, but one needs more to go on.

You say you have spoken to the family so someone must have something you can add"
