Rescued Campaign Medals
« on: Wednesday 09 February 05 13:52 GMT (UK) »
My son recently rescued some WW1 campaign medals that someone had thrown in a rubbish bin!!

If you recognise the following person let me know

Private W T Cordrey 203231 Devonshire Regiment

My son is keen to return these to his rightful descendants.

Regards
Smokey

Hi Smokey

It might be worth you contacting the national archives below.

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/contact/

There may be somewhere on their site where details of the medals can be published.

Hi Smokey

Don't know if you've looked up the medal on The National archives site yet but this is  what i found.

Medal card of  Cordrey, William T
Corps: Devonshire Regiment
Regiment No: 2032
Rank: Private
 1914-1920 WO 372/5

Might not be the same man as number on medal is 2 digits less.

Going on from Christine's post (well done Christine!) - you could try contacting the Devon family history society. They may be able to publish details in a members newsletter or something.
