Marriage Lookup please
« on: Saturday 10 January 09 14:46 GMT (UK) »
Hi.

A very kind Rootchatter has found out some information for me and I wonder if anyone can help me a little further?

Margaret Fletcher married a James Kearsley, September 1869, at St John Church, Abram, Wigan and Leigh.

Please can anyone look up the marriage for me and let me have any further information?

Many thanks indeed.
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Cannot do the lookup myself I'm afraid, but this link to the Wigan Archives says they do a free 30 minutes worth of research  :D :D

http://www.wlct.org/Culture/Heritage/lhistory.htm

Worth sending them an email I should think, as you've got a date and a church they might be able to do it in 30 minutes!

Good luck

HI Barbara,

Just to let you know that I have received an e-mail back;  they did indeed look up the marriage for me and it has shown that my Great-Grandfather was born illegitimate!  My Great-Great-Grandmother is listed as a Spinster on her marriage certificate but she had her son who was 4!

Thank you so much for giving me that link.

Regards,
Jackie
