Part of my family history.

Here are some sites about Burtonwood,  I used to go there during the 1940's and 1950's the dancing school I belonged too used to put on shows for the servicemen both RAF and USAF.

Couldn't believe the food they had in the Officers Mess that they said we could help ourselves too.  This was when we were always hungry.

I remember Bob Hope and Glenn Miller came to the Base.

The main runway is now the M62 where it goes past the Shopping place  Warrington where Ikea is.

They had wanted to make it into a civil airport the the subsidence due to the large coalmines that ran underneath it were too problematic.

When they were digging out the underground storage facilities they actually hit the coal seams.

I am trying to trace any information about William Loen Gee, Sergeant 936910 (regular). Known to be at RAF Burtonwood in 1948. At this time he married Edna Law at Leeds registry office.
Please please if anyone knows anything at all or has a photograph showing William I would be delighted to see it.
Many thanks in anticipation of you reading this.
